Elderly Client Services

We offer a special range of services to meet the needs of elderly clients and clients with elderly relatives. Home visits may be arranged and we place great importance on establishment of a good relationship between client and solicitor.

A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) may be required in the future, even if you are perfectly healthy now. Having an LPA prepared and retained with your Will could mean that your family would not be put to the time and expense of having one of them appointed your Deputy should you become mentally incapable of dealing with your own affairs.

There are two forms of LPA which both attract a fixed registration fee, payable to the Office of the Public Guardian, of £150. The forms of LPA are as follows;

  1. Property and Affairs LPA - this allows your attorney to make decisions about your finances, such as selling your home or managing your bank accounts.

  2. Personal welfare LPA – this allows your attorney to make decisions about both health and personal welfare, such as where to live, day-to-day care or having medical treatment.

If you choose to have an LPA we will be happy to provide a quote for you, which will be dependant on which forms of LPA are required and the level of detail you chose to include in the LPA(s).

If you believe your parent(s) already lack capacity and require the appointment of a Deputy to deal with their affairs we are able to advise on this process and again will provide an individual quote for our fees dependant on the work involved.

A further area in which we offer service to elderly clients is in providing advice on protecting assets from the social services trap. There are various measures that may be taken to protect assets and we would be happy to discuss these should you choose to contact us.
